Simple Kaleidoscope

Materials and tools
  1. 3 sheets of plain glass of exact size (approximately 50mm x 200mm is recommended or you can use plain plastic sheets or slide glasses for microscopic observation)
  2. A roll of scotch tape (Sellotape) or double sided adhesive tape
  3. A roll of insulation tape
  4. A sheet of A4 black paper

Method
  1. Make glasses an equilateral triangular prism shape. Use little Sellotape to attach the glasses together.
  2. Cut at least 6 pieces of Sellope about 30cm. Join the first three by letting the sticky part of one piece face up and the stick the other two on either side. You do the same for the remaining three.
  3. After joining the Sellotape in this way, stick them on the long side of the A4 black paper.
  4. Put the glasses on the side of the paper where there is Sellotape and then roll up the glasses with the paper
  5. Cut off excess paper.
  6. Paste insulation tape on every edge of the glass in order to avoid injury.
  7. Face a side of this simple kaleidoscope to a colourful pattern or mixture of things and look into the other side of it while rotating it slowly. The reflection of light will introduce you to the world of kaleidoscope.
