Making a Wind Propeller

Materials and tools
  1. A sheet of A4 paper (coloured paper is preferable)
  2. Two beads (or two pieces of circular thick paper 1 cm in diameter)
  3. A wooden stick (or a plastic straw)
  4. A clothe pin
  5. A hammer
  6. A pair of pliers
  7. A pair of scissors
Method
  1. Make an isosceles right-angled triangle by getting one corner of the square fold it on the opposite lines.

  2. After making the triangle we will be able to see a rectangle next to the triangle. Fold the line joining the triangle and the rectangle. After folding, cut along this line.

  3. Unfold the triangle and fold it on the opposite side, such that it makes another triangle. The crossing becomes the centre of the square.

  4. Cut along these same lines on the square about 8 cm from each corner of the centre. This will make each corner to have two leaves.

  5. Make a hole on the centre.

  6. Make a small hole near each end of right leaf. (You make 4 holes)

  7. If you donf have beads, make two small circular piece of thick paper about 1 cm in diameter.

  8. Get a pin and pass it through the centre of a bead or through one circular piece.

  9. Let the pin pass through the holes of each leaf one by one. After that, pass the pin through the hole on the centre of the square sheet and another bead or circular piece.

  10. Get this pin containing everything and pin to the wooden stick by using a hammer or to a straw.

  11. When the pin comes through to the other end of the stick make sure you bend it using a pliers to avoid injury.

  12. Let the wind propeller face the wind and observe what happens.
